June 23, 2025A sense of place is crucial when searching for a new custom Florida home, and residents of Mosaic ICI Homes’ premier master-planned community in Daytona Beach have it. This community on Daytona Beach’s west side is a destination for the young and young at heart. It’s close to the area’s best shopping, dining and entertainment, and boasts unbeatable amenities. But Mosaic’s hometown of Daytona Beach also exudes a strong sense of place. The home of the “World’s Most Famous Beach” is both iconic and evolving, a uniqueness captured in the Daytona Beach Mural Trail. Didn’t know Daytona Beach had such a thing? Now you do! And it’s a must-see adventure. Read on for more information. What it is Street art, or public art? Both terms are accurate descriptions of the Daytona Beach Mural Trail. Both describe original artwork done for public beautification and enjoyment, as a scenic way to capture a location’s sense of place. As of this writing, the Daytona Beach Mural Trail includes 20 public murals in Daytona Beach, nine in neighboring Ormond Beach to the north, and four in Daytona Beach Shores to the south. The most recent mural is at Humphreys & Sons Jewelers on Daytona Beach’s Main Street. Painted by artist Beth O’Conner, it features the historic Ponce Inlet lighthouse. Mural Trail highlights The closest public murals to Mosaic are at the ONE DAYTONA shopping, dining and entertainment complex on U.S. Highway 92 (International Speedway Boulevard) only 10 minutes east of Mosaic. One DAYTONA ONE mural commemorates beachgoers lounging, swimming and strolling golden sands while vehicles (permitted to park and drive only on certain sections of Daytona Beach) traverse a narrow beach lane. Another ONE DAYTONA mural commemorates NASCAR racing at Daytona International Speedway, just across U.S. Highway 92. The third ONE DAYTONA mural is a composition of native animals, birds and insects painted by Beth O’Conner. The Mural Trail also includes paintings at the historic Daytona Beach Pier, at Crabby’s Oceanside on South Atlantic Avenue, Crabby Joe’s Deck & Grill on the Sunglow Pier in Daytona Beach Shores, and Boondocks Restaurant in Wilbur by the Sea near Daytona Beach Shores. How to enjoy it If there’s a perfect selfie opportunity this is it. Download a list or snap a screen grab of all Daytona Beach Mural Trail locations and head out for a day’s adventure. The murals come in all sizes, but many are quite large, typically covering most of an outer building wall, and it’s hard to miss their bright, cheerful colors and local scenes. Naturally there are lots of coastal, beach-y and oceanic themes, but Mosaic residents on the Mural Trail also will find paintings that depict Daytona Beach history and events. Post your favorites on social media or take detailed photos to inspire a future art project. Who knows? The next Daytona Beach Mural Trail artist could be a Mosaic resident! May 8, 2025Styled for the young and young at heart, ICI Homes’ master-planned community of Mosaic in Daytona Beach is one of our top properties in east central Florida. And with good reason. Everyone from kids to parents to grandparents, to dogs and cats and other pets, happily call its 800 acres home. Entertainment is easy to find — one visit to the Club Mosaic amenity center will confirm that. But if you’re considering buying or building a new custom Florida home here with youngsters in tow, you may wonder about convenient options away from home. The answer? Plenty. Here’s more on where Mosaic kids can have fun in Daytona Beach. The beach It’s not called the “World’s Most Famous Beach” for nothing. Visitors from all over the globe flock to Daytona Beach to lounge on its wide sands, and to swim and surf its blue-green waters. Some sections of its 23 miles of beaches are drivable at low tide (for an entrance fee). So you can pack snacks, toys and supplies and use your vehicle as home base right on the beach, although plenty of beachfront parks and parking also is available. U.S. Highway 92 (International Speedway Boulevard), which takes you directly east to Daytona Beach, is less than five minutes south of Mosaic’s main entrance. The lighthouse Once of Florida’s premier historical attractions is located in Ponce Inlet, south of Daytona Beach. The circa-1887 Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, beautifully preserved, still serves as a working light. The historic outbuildings and keepers’ homes that surround its red-brick base also are beautifully preserved. These structures serve as an onsite museum, using multiple exhibits to convey a taste of late-19th and early-20th-century lighthouse life. The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse also is a good place to exhaust kids’ never-ending energy! Safely supervise their 203-step, 175-foot climb to the top, then marvel at jaw-dropping vistas. Marine Science Center Make it a day of exploration by visiting the Marine Science Center next door to the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. Currently closed to the public, the Center re-opens June 1 after renovations that began September 2, 2024. Once it returns, kids and adults will enjoy seeing sea birds and turtles recovering from various mishaps, plus meet the Center’s resident raptors. Exhibits highlighting the area’s marine wildlife, touch tanks, and a nature trail also are on property. The Museum of Arts of Sciences Known locally as MOAS, the 100,000-square-foot Museum of Arts and Sciences boasts an amazing 90-acre campus packed with galleries, exhibits and seriously fun activities — especially for kids. It also makes an excellent indoor option during summer showers. To start, the Charles and Linda Williams Children’s Museum offers plenty of interactive fun. Kids of all ages will thrill to the Lowell and Nancy Lohman Family Planetarium and the Prehistory of Florida exhibit with its Giant Sloth skeleton. MOAS also offers Summer Learning Institute sessions for kids ages 5 to 13. Ready for your new Mosaic lifestyle? Talk to ICI Homes here. [...] Read more...
